July 12 Results

Gentlemen, the results for the July 12th event have long been posted to the website. The matches were extremely close with 4 teams tying at 56 and 2nd & 3rd places having to be decided retrogression.  If that wasn't exciting enough, Marty Peterson, who is now going by the Name "Retro Marty" got edged out once again by retrogression for the 4th consecutive time!!.  I'm sure that must be some kind of record.

July 26 Event

Tee times for the July 26th, Summer Shootout #2,  which is the Team Best Ball format has been posted to the Men's Club Website.  Please take a minute to check your tee times.  Also please keep in mind that this is a Team Event with a pari-mutuel so if you cannot make it, as much advance notice would be greatly appreciated.  Please use the "Cancellation Form" on the website.

The Summer Shoot Out is based on 3 events where you MUST have the same partner for all 3 events to be able to win the OVER ALL prize money.  There are 2 payouts for this event.  The individual event, for 1st, 2nd & 3rd as well as the over all event.

Match Play

By the time you receive this newsletter all matches with a July 20 deadline should have been completed. The next deadline of August 17th for all matches is fast approaching so contact you opponents as soon as possible to book your times.  The website has been updated to show the results for ALL REPORTED matches.  I am also endeavoring to post the tee times arranged for future matches so those players who are waiting have an idea as to when they may be playing their future match.  So if you book at tee time for a match please drop the info in a quick email.  Thanks!

Rules from Shivas McQuiver

Keep in mind that you have several options when dealing with those "seemingly magnetic" water hazards....Rule of Thumb-Yellow staked hazards allow 3 options for relief, Red staked hazards allow 5 options for relief...The difference between Yellow and Red basically boils down to Red hazards offering relief at a point an equal distance from the Hole on the OPPOSITE side of the hazard...this can be advantageous to the player should the hazard be a "Snaky" stream winding up the side of the fairway...The other option that the Red hazard allows is two club length relief from the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard...both Red and Yellow hazards allow the player to go back as far as he/she likes as long as the margin cross-point is kept between the hole and the new drop point...this too can be advantageous to the player should the edge of the hazard pose a "tricky" yardage-type shot..."

Should you have any questions or need any further clarification on these rules please contact Shivas (Mike) in our pro shop.
